How important do you think it is to discuss the possibility of discovering life elsewhere in the Universe? Who do you think should initiate that dialogue? And who do you think should participate in the conversation?
Finally a question that I did not grow up with and an interesting one. To me – life elsewhere in space- they would be our galactic neighbors- we should all think about it and talk about it. Though- in the culture we live in today – many people don’t talk to their neighbors down the street – which is a big mistake from my perspective.
I find it almost impossible to believe that Earth is alone – that our creator only made the universe with just us in it- there must be more and I am sure that we will find each other. so – why don’t we all talk about it – I think it’s a matter of IF – not when. We will find out cousins in time and they us, let’s hope we like each other and can communicate!
You are so right in your observation that, in our current culture, not only do we not reach out to our neighbours, we often don’t even get along with each other! In a world where we are still fighting “the other” –along the lines of race, creed and colour —how ever will we accept what might be the ultimate “diversity” of beings from other planets? It’s a scary thought sometimes—hence the importance of people talking about and sharing their thoughts, feelings and yes—fears. Watch for my next post which will discuss a thoughtful and provocative article that appeared in the Guardian and talked about the impact of finding ET life on religion –“Is religion done? ”
Thanks for joining the conversation 🙂

Just means that we are only at the beginning of the path – maybe we have not even walked thru the door ! But- I do think that the door has been shown to us – I wish the minority of us that are ready – didn’t have to wait for everyone to catch up! LOL yes- good to being dialogue- but I wonder if it’s a self selected group here. I did not read much of what others say – but – I don’t see folks that are very closed to all of this posting here. Maybe I am wrong? I would love to hear and listen to others with very different viewpoints.

Organized religion helps us to understand the world and our place in it. I think every religion offers a path to God, the Creator, Allah, or what have you. I think we are meant to be good stewards, and by this I mean trying to be a good person, and this for me is the way to knowing God. I do not fear any kind of retribution. Nothing is comparable to the Creator.
